Position Overview:
The Estimator at Senesco Marine plays a critical role in analyzing and preparing shipyard bids and fostering new business opportunities. This position requires a deep understanding of project cost estimation, encompassing detailed analyses of costs, time, and requirements to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bid Analysis & Preparation: Conduct in-depth reviews of customer specifications, technical data, and drawings to create comprehensive bid proposals.
- Cost Estimation: Develop itemized labor, material, and subcontractor cost estimates, utilizing historical data to enhance bid accuracy and setting new standards for unique projects.
- Project Planning & Coordination: Collaborate with Foremen and Production Managers to craft effective production plans and manage the transition of bid packages.
- Vendor & Subcontractor Management: Evaluate vendor quotes, compare in-house vs. subcontractor costs, and establish criteria for vendor selection.
- Change Order Management: Prepare estimates for any change orders, ensuring budgetary adjustments are accurately reflected.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze production performance and identify areas for process optimization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a relevant field (preferred but not required).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in marine and engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Project, Word, Excel, and Outlook; AutoCAD experience is highly preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Familiarity with blueprints, commercial marine vessels, classification society rules, and USCG regulatory requirements.
Working Conditions:
This role includes both office and shipyard environments, with travel to customer facilities. Physical requirements include climbing ladders, entering confined spaces, and adhering to safety protocols.
