Summary:
The Planning/Scheduling Lead plays a key role in the effective management of shop floor operations and scheduling. This position requires in-depth knowledge of shop floor control, a strong commitment to safety practices, and adherence to all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. The ideal candidate will exhibit a solid work ethic, including reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to complete assigned tasks on time while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scheduling & Shop Floor Control: Experience in scheduling and shop floor control, preferably in a shipbuilding or similar environment.
- Data Management: Maintain integrity of the planning and cost tracking system by ensuring data accuracy and optimizing system output. Conduct regular audits of processes for consistency and improvement.
- Timecard Management: Accurately enter daily timecard data for assigned projects, ensuring that all project hours are recorded correctly.
- Work Order Generation & Reporting: Efficiently generate and close work orders, track project hours, and prepare reports that detail project totals.
- Internal Reporting: Generate, distribute, and analyze internal reports to assist the Production Team in tracking progress and performance.
- Project Efficiency Analysis: Monitor and evaluate the weekly efficiencies of all assigned projects, providing insights for optimization.
- Schedule Maintenance: Update and maintain accurate schedules for all assigned projects, ensuring alignment with engineering timelines and requirements.
- Work Package Support: Generate required dates for work packages in support of the Engineering schedule and collaborate with the team to ensure timely execution.
- Planning & Scheduling Meetings: Prepare and present material for the Planning and Scheduling meetings for assigned projects, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is shared.
- Software Proficiency: Demonstrate strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Project, and other relevant business software used by the company.
- Self-Starter: Independently manage tasks with minimal supervision, taking proactive steps to address any challenges that arise.
- Communication Skills: Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, to report issues and discrepancies to supervisors and request assistance when necessary.
- Attention to Detail: Exhibit strong attention to detail, with excellent follow-up skills to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Learning & Adaptability: Demonstrate a willingness to learn and apply new techniques to improve scheduling and planning processes.
- Workplace Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to company safety protocols and keeping work areas clean and clutter-free.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear appropriate PPE as required by company job hazard analysis and safety procedures.
- Physical Capability: Able to work in all areas of the shipyard and perform tasks that may require physical endurance.
Education/Experience:
- Experience in scheduling and shop floor control. Shipbuilding experience is a plus but not required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, MS Project, and other relevant software.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
